Session 12 - 16 Working on your projects

You should have completed the Design Brief or be very close to finishing it. Once you have completed your proposal, you can start to develop your website. As mentioned previously, I recommend trying a couple of the website builders to see if they work for you and have a template that is suitable. When looking at templates, don't get bogged down with the style and colouring - look at the features and layout. You can always change graphics, colours, and of course content. Session 11: Tracking, Closure and Review

Tracking your Project with Project Libre There are multiple ways of entering "real" data into your project. You can use timesheets and enter details by the day/hour for each resource or you can add the information into each task. For a small project, I find that the easiest method is to add the actual data into each task. Before you start to track your actual information against your plan, you need to set a baseline. I will use the Project Libre file that we created in class to demonstrate the tracking procedure.  Setting a Baseline I will set mine to Baseline 1. You can have multiple Baselines for tracking purposes, whether they be for different sections of your project, or for different scenarios or plans. Once you have set the Baseline, you will be able to view the actual information against the plan. The plan shows up as a shaded area, currently underneath the plan. Before we get started at looking at and reviewing website builders, I will spend a small amount of time going over the Risk Analysis Assessment task and Milestones. Also happy to go over creating a Gantt Chart with Project Libre What is a risk? A risk is anything that will affect the outcome of the project successfully completing on TIME, within BUDGET, and meeting all OBJECTIVES. I recommend doing a risk analysis in a table or using a spreadsheet. This table should include: Details of the risk - a brief description of the risk Probability or likelihood of the risk occurring - this could be measured by using words such as low, medium or high or using some kind of scale or star rating Consequences of the risk occurring - how will it affect the project? What will be the effect on the project if this risk actually occurs? Strategy to mitigate or minimise the risk - how will you deal with the risk? What can be done to stop it from occurring?
